Foreword

CCEC 2022 will address the topic of regional development in Central Europe, with a focus on the four  Visegrad countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland). While the post-socialist transformation has produced democratisation, economic liberalisation, as well as EU accession of the countries in Central  Europe, it has produced notable regional inequalities. At the same time, the countries need to face their share of global challenges, such as Climate Change, but the measures to address them need to be aligned with the needs of local populations.

The full-day conference will go beyond mere academic debates and will bring together relevant stakeholders directly involved in the policy-making and implementation processes from both public and private sector,  including representatives of public and international agencies, civil society, business as well as academia from the four Visegrad countries, to share their experience and insights amongst themselves, and to discuss the topic with international experts from the University of Cambridge, who be chairing the respective panels.
